In France, animal shelters face a significant annual rise in abandonment cases.
In 2024, nearly 330,000 animals were taken in by associations, an increase of 10%. The summer of 2025 confirmed this trend, with a 14% increase in abandonments, leading to saturation, strained budgets, and ever-greater needs for food—one of the shelters' major expenses.
To help them navigate this difficult period, GLS France and Ultra Premium Direct (Natura), one of our committed clients, decided to join forces.
🎄 A Solidarity Operation: "Christmas Came Early"
As the festive season approaches, and lights are just starting to twinkle in the streets, another kind of magic began much sooner than expected.
This year, GLS and Ultra Premium Direct (Natura) decided not to wait until December 24 to bring joy to those who need it most: the animals in shelters.
That is why, in late November, we partnered to offer 100,000 meals to 30 shelters and associations across France. A solidarity tour crossing the country to bring comfort to thousands of dogs and cats awaiting adoption.
GLS drivers were delivering much more than just parcels: they were providing the means to fill bowls, warm up winters, and lighten the daily load of the hundreds of tireless volunteers.
And at Ultra Premium Direct (Natura), they offered the best of what they do: high-quality food, and above all, plenty of love.
This year, we didn't wait for Christmas to spoil them.

This operation illustrates a common ambition: to make logistics a tangible support for shelters across the country.
Thanks to its national network, GLS provided free deliveries to 30 shelters located in all four corners of France. Ultra Premium Direct (Natura), a specialist in high-quality animal nutrition, supplied the entirety of the meals offered.
Together, we are bringing concrete support to the organizations that work daily for animal welfare.
